Nautilus Homes Partners with William B. Litchfield Designs

Nautilus Homes is honored to be collaborating with William B. Litchfield Designs, Inc., of Atlanta, in the design and construction for one of our current outstanding projects: “Southern Charm” — a 5,500-square-foot private residence situated along the beautiful Manatee River in Ellenton, Florida. Litchfield Designs was recently awarded two prestigious Philip T. Shutze Awards from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Southeast Chapter, one award for its Regency-inspired Georgian renovation of a single family home in Buckhead, Georgia, and another for a smaller remodel project.

“We’re thrilled to be working with an architect of Bill Litchfield’s renown and caliber on one of our projects here in Florida,” said Ryan Perrone, president of Nautilus Homes. “Bill’s sensitivity to site conditions, clients’ desires, materials, and period detailing is perfectly suited to our own vision at Nautilus Homes, and it’s a privilege to collaborate with his firm on ‘Southern Charm’.”

Designed to capture the essence of the architecture and lifestyle of Charleston, South Carolina, “Southern Charm” is carefully sited to take full advantage of the property’s expansive 7 acre grounds that extend to the shores of the Manatee River. The home is detailed to recreate historic craftsmanship and features a separate pool house and water’s edge gazebo. In the planning stages of this project, Ryan Perrone and members of his construction team traveled through South Carolina, visiting some of the oldest, grandest estates and plantation homes in our country, including Charleston’s famous Drayton Hall.

Nautilus Homes was also recognized recently with a “Home of the Year” award for its own work on an historic renovation project in Sarasota’s historic Burns Court neighborhood. SRQ Magazine cited Nautilus Homes as being one of the Sarasota Florida top home builders who “pulled out all the stops” in their work in the magazine’s annual design competition.

Nautilus Wins Sarasota Burns Court Remodel Home of the Year Award

Nautilus Homes has won a Silver Award for its Sarasota Burns Court remodel project from SRQ Magazine’s 2017 Home of the Year Competition.  Nautilus Homes was recognized by the magazine as being one of the Sarasota Florida top home builders who “pulled out all the stops” in their work on the homes winning this year’s competition.

“This historic renovation at 422 Burns Court was a unique opportunity to work with our client in reviving an historic home in an iconic downtown Sarasota neighborhood and bring it back to its former glory,” said Nautilus Homes president Ryan Perrone. “The size of the home – only 1,000 square feet — presented some unique design challenges. We were honored to partner with Ellen Hanson of Pansy Bayou; Elite Woodwork; and Paramount Stone to find innovative solutions to preserve the historic importance and most efficiently utilize the space of this exciting home renovation project.”

The key features of this house include: all new Loewen aluminum-clad wood push-out windows with old-fashioned wood-framed hinged screens, a phenomenally designed kitchen, master bedroom built-in wardrobe, totally reconfigured master bath and all new courtyard walls (front and back). Interior trims were matched to the profiles that were used originally and reused the interior doors and hardware with minor refurbishment along with refinishing the walls and ceilings throughout to a level-5 finish.
