The home is sprinkled with meticulous details even upon entry onto the drive which features century old Chicagoan bricks. The quintessential front porch provides a perfect backdrop for an afternoon sweet tea with neighbors. The foyer is embraced by a dining room with crisp board and batten details and a peek into the study through white barn doors. These details provide a clean counterpoint to the repurposed barnwood ceiling.

The space opens into an expansive kitchen and living area that holds traditional esteem yet a fresh, contemporary atmosphere. The floor-to-ceiling fireplace, constructed with Indiana Limestone – an homage to the owner’s home state- is a standout centerpiece. With the quartzite countertops, Wolf appliances, and a butler’s kitchen and pantry, it’s easy to envision a novel-worthy holiday gathering at Magnolia.

A cypress porch with vaulted ceilings and 12-foot-tall screen that overlooks orchid trellises and whimsical sea grasses without interruption. The master retreat adjacent boasts perfectly juxtaposes custom, black metalwork and painted white panels for a balanced contrast. Personality drips into every corner – even the laundry room and washroom’s playful Cuban cement tiled floors. The home not only exudes character, but also ethics in sustainability with solar panels and high efficiency appliances.

Magnolia recalls a former era in updated tradition – the soul of a historic farmhouse brought to life in contemporary times.

In preparation for construction, the Nautilus Homes team traveled to visit Drayton Hall to understand the architectural building techniques of the period to ensure the home would hold historic integrity. The home was designed and crafted to maintain the historic, traditional feel while filled with playful and creative details such as painted striped floors, swinging diner doors, rolling ladders, antique hardware, gas lanterns, brick floors, reclaimed wood, and secret doors. The home features authentic materials including Loewen windows, Signature entry doors, Timberlane shutters, coffered ceiling, custom cabinetry and millwork creating elaborate, grand spaces.

The home captures the clients’ character and will stand as a testament to their family and their passion for classical arts.
