This Nautilus client had a heart for history, an eye for style, and a love of travel, drawn to places like Tuscany where the past still very much has a place in the present. When she finally snagged one of the Burns Court historic bungalows, she quickly contacted her dream creative team to bring her vision to life, of which Nautilus was a part. She wanted to maintain historical integrity while creating her stylish 21st century dream home to entertain friends and family.
The artistic group collaborated on how to rid the home of the decades of fads that had been layered over the original intent. Little square footage called for masterful space planning with every element being functional or multifunctional. Our job in the process? Repair, restore and redefine, with superb craftsmanship and standard of quality. We set out to prove that they still build houses like they used to. We upcycled original doors and hardware where possible, even using the original back door as a bathroom door. Where time had taken its toll, we restored with historically consistent interior trims and hardware.
This home features new Loewen aluminum clad wood push-out windows with old fashioned wood framed-hinged screens, a phenomenally designed kitchen, concealed wardrobe in the master, totally reconfigured master bath, all new courtyard walls (front and back), new interior trims matched to the profiles that were used originally, and refurbished interior doors and hardware. The walls and ceilings were refinished throughout to a level 5 finish.
We were honored to turn this quaint little bungalow into a true Nautilus Homes jewel box home.
